2020 Ford Ranger Review

The 2020 Ford Ranger is a mid-size pickup truck offering 2 cab configurations and 3 model options. Your cab choices are the SuperCab which includes a 6-foot box four seats, and small rear-hinged back doors, and the SuperCrew with a 5-foot box, 5 seats, and 4 conventional doors. Available trim levels include the XL, XLT, and Lariat that are further broken down for you here:

Model MSRP Fuel Efficiency (L/100 km)
XL $29,993 11.8 city, 9.8 hwy
XLT $33,926 11.8 city, 9.8 hwy
Lariat $39,407 11.8 city, 9.8 hwy

There are also some additional packages to add-on according to what your main use for the Ranger will be. For serious off-roading, choose the FX4 Off-Road Package that is available on all trims and provides you with off-road-tuned monotube shocks, all-terrain tires, electronic-locking rear differential, an exposed steel front bash plate, and undercarriage skid plates. The XL XTR Package adds chrome front and rear bumpers, fog lamps, black tow hooks, and body-colour wheel lip moulding to further enhance the Ranger's striking style.

Equip the Trailer Tow Package to increase your towing rating to 3,402 kg as well as adding on the Class 4 hitch and 4/7-pin connector. For the Ranger XL, the STX Appearance Package adds bold styling elements like aluminum wheels, black bumpers, fog lamps, a box decal, and premium cloth seating. Finally, the Black Appearance Package sports 18" black-painted aluminum wheels with black centre caps and 5" black running boards. You'll also get a body colour front bumper with black lower fascia, black sill plates, and a Tough Bed spray-in bedliner. On the XLT, the Black Appearance Package brings a black grille with black surround, while on the Lariat you'll get a black grille with black surround and black bars as well as black mirror caps.

Under the hood of the Ford Ranger, you'll find the 2.3 L EcoBoost engine and class-exclusive 10-speed transmission that has a torque rating of 310 lb-ft. Select your optimal drive mode from Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts, and Sand with the Terrain Management System for optimum traction, driveability, and performance.

Get the most out of your driving experience with Ford Co-Pilot360 featuring driver-assist technologies that can help you navigate the roads with greater confidence. Use the available Blind Spot Information System with Trailer Coverage to help ease lane-changing anxiety by having the system alert you if a vehicle is detected in your blind spot or alongside your trailer. Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking keeps an eye out for potential collisions with cars or pedestrians ahead of you and flashes a warning as well as audible alert sounds. The brakes will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity in order to be fully responsive when you brake. If you don't, the brakes can automatically apply to help lessen the impact of the collision.
