The Ford Escape is the company's best-selling SUV and boasts a long and distinguished history of constant development. The 2020 model year saw a complete refresh of the range, with five different trim levels catering to different needs and budgets.
Which 2020 Ford Escape is right for you? To help you decide, here's how the Escape S, SE, SE Sport, SEL, and Titanium trims measure up.
2020 Ford Escape S
The entry-level Escape S is powered by a 1.5L EcoBoost gas engine creating a healthy 181 horsepower and 190lb-ft of torque, feeding front-wheel drive through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The cabin is comfortable but functional, with a 4.5" infotainment touchscreen, a 4.2" instrument cluster display, cloth seats, and manual climate control. If you're looking for the most affordable Escape, this is the trim to choose from.
Escape SE & SE Sport
The SE builds on the basic S trim by increasing the touchscreen size to 8" and adding the more powerful and user-friendly SYNC3 software to the mix. The temperature control is upgraded to an automatic system, and the driver seat is a powered ten-way adjustable design. The SE is one of the most popular trims thanks to its great combination of affordability and increased comfort.
As the name suggests, the SE Sport takes the SE trim and beefs up the power under the hood. The gas engine is a 2.0L EcoBoost mill pushing out an impressive 250 horsepower and 280lb-ft of torque, to give a smoother, more assertive drive.
There's also a hybrid option, based around a 2.5L IVCT Atkinson Cycle engine, providing up to 880km of hybrid range with excellent fuel economy.
The interior is also upgraded, with new elements including a 12.3" full digital instrument cluster.
Escape SEL
The SEL trim is based on the SE and offers a choice between the two gas engines while also increasing the level of active driver-assist features. Key systems include a blind spot information system, pre-collision assistance with automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist.
Escape Titanium
The Titanium is the top-line trim offering the hybrid powertrain, leather seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, and much more. If you're looking for the ultimate Escape experience, the Titanium is a perfect choice.
